5 dishes you have to try at Sushi Atelier

With so much choice on a sushi menu, deciding what to order can sometimes be harder than it looks.

Do you go for classic nigiri? A creative roll? Something seared? Or let the chef choose for you?

At Sushi Atelier, we like to combine the foundations of Japanese sushi with bold flavours and creative combinations. From our signature omakase to rich toro and truffle, there is plenty to discover.

If it's your first visit — or you're simply looking for something new — here are five Sushi Atelier dishes we think you should try.

1. Omakase Sushi

Let the chef choose.

If you can't decide what to order, this is the perfect place to start.

Our Omakase Sushi is a selection of nigiri chosen by our chefs, with each piece finished with its own individual flavour topping.

Rather than ordering a standard selection, you get to experience a changing combination of flavours and ingredients, allowing the chef's creativity to take centre stage.

It's also a great way to discover something you might not have chosen for yourself.

Our Omakase Sushi is available in 6, 9, 12 and 15-piece options, with a premium 15-piece selection for those looking to make a real occasion of it.

Our tip: Sit at the sushi counter and watch each piece being prepared in front of you.

2. Yellowtail, Spring Onion & Garlic Truffle Mayo Roll

This is one of those combinations that demonstrates exactly what we mean by modern sushi.

Fresh yellowtail is combined with spring onion and garlic before being finished with truffle mayonnaise.

It's rich, aromatic and full of flavour, while still retaining the freshness you'd expect from a great sushi roll.

It's also a great example of how Sushi Atelier takes traditional Japanese ingredients and techniques and gives them a contemporary twist.

If you enjoy sushi but like your flavours to be a little more adventurous, this is one to try.

3. Aburi Toro Truffle

Rich, indulgent and seriously moreish.

Toro is prized for its rich, fatty texture, and our Aburi Toro Truffle takes things a step further.

The roll combines pickled cucumber and spring onion with chopped seared fatty tuna, finished with truffled teriyaki sauce.

The word aburi refers to the technique of lightly searing the surface of the fish, creating a subtle smoky flavour while keeping the richness and texture of the tuna.

The combination of fatty tuna, acidity from the pickled cucumber and the earthy flavour of truffle makes this a particularly indulgent piece of sushi.

Our tip: Pair it with a crisp, aromatic sake to balance the richness.

4. BBQ Tuna Oshizushi

Sushi doesn't always have to mean nigiri or maki.

Our BBQ Tuna Oshizushi is a great example.

Oshizushi is pressed sushi, traditionally made by layering ingredients with sushi rice in a mould before pressing it into shape.

At Sushi Atelier, we use seared tuna with BBQ sauce and finish it with Parmesan.

It's an unexpected combination — Japanese sushi meets smoky, savoury BBQ flavours — and that's exactly why it has become such a fun part of our menu.

If you're looking for something a little different from traditional sushi, this is definitely worth ordering.

5. Tuna Tataki with Truffle Butter & Fresh Wasabi

For something that sits somewhere between sushi and a cooked dish, try our Tuna Tataki.

The tuna is lightly pan-fried, leaving the centre beautifully tender, and served with truffle butter and fresh wasabi.

The combination brings together the richness of truffle butter with the clean heat of fresh wasabi, complementing the flavour of the tuna without overpowering it.

It's a great choice to share at the beginning of a meal — although we wouldn't blame you for keeping it all to yourself.
